Universal Coating takes its responsibility to the environment very seriously. Our concern for the environment is central to all of our business activities – from packaging to processing. For example:
- Since 1999, the Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership has recognized us for our voluntary pollution prevention commitment.
- All of the paperboard packaging that arrives at our facility is either re-used or collected, baled and shipped out to a recycling facility.
- Process water is passed through a high-volume, state-of-the-art, automatic treatment system before discharge into the sewer lines. The discharge is in full compliance with all state and federal guidelines.
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are present in some of the coatings we apply. These are captured during the coating process and treated by a regenative thermal oxidizar (RTO) before release into the atmosphere, again in full compliance with state and federal guidelines.
